I also love to have predicability in our meals so I really don't have to think to much about what to make so taco and soup nights are just perfect. It gives me some flexibility in what exactly I am going to make but also some focus.
Recently I was given some Old El Paso Taco Seasoning mix to try from Old El Paso through MyBlogSpark. I thought what a perfect kick off to family taco night. I am a traditionalist when it comes to my tacos. I like them hard, with lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream. Occasionally I will throw in some avocado but that is about it. Cliff like it when I make them double decker (soft shell and refried beans wrapped around a hard shell taco. But sometimes that is just way too much for me. H helped me make this, and I just love having the kids help with meals. They are always more willing to at least try what we make. They turned out great. I always use Old El Paso Taco Seasoning because the flavor and texture is consistent. And tonight was not any different.
This is how they turned out

What I also would love to do is invite neighbors over during these theme nights. Like for soup nights - guests bring their own bowls and spoons and we supply the rest. For family taco night we could supply the tacos, they bring their favorite fixing. Yeah...I like this idea. The question is when do I start this new tradition? I think I need to pow wow with my neighbors to get this going.

I LOVE Old El Paso seasoning mix - it is the ONLY mix I will use. Their refried beans are pretty good too ... If I could only have one other topping, then I guess my fav is sour cream. I like with sour cream cheese and a little bit of shredded lettuce. I also like to put refried beans on them. And crunchy shell only please!!
I like avocado.

Seasoned ground beef is the most important fixing.
I also usually add lettuce, tomato, shredded cheese, onions, and taco sauce.
mmmmmm! Good!

My favorite taco fixing is Sour Cream, there I said it. I load on the sour cream as if it's going out of style.
of course I follow you on Twitter!!
I love ground beef on tacos at home. But my guilty pleasure is bean burritos at taco bell. Yum.
I follow you on twitter. I'd "like" you on facebook, but with all the changes I don't know how to find you. Can you send me something so I can like it? We're friends on fb so you'd think it would be easy.. but apparently not for me!
